Alpha Domus - Hawkes Bay

Great wine starts in the vineyard and the Ham family, owners of Alpha Domus, certainly have a great vineyard site. The site's deep alluvial shingle (river rock) is planted in classic French varieties and bathed in the generous Hawke's Bay climate. Their wines are deeply flavored and distinctive, especially their Bordeaux-style red blends and aromatic whites.

Alpha Domus wines are produced from grapes grown on the family’s estate vineyards. The estate comprises 90 acres of premium viticultural land, located on the Heretaunga Plains, west of Hastings, Hawke’s Bay. The vineyard lies 12 miles inland from the coast, renowned for its hot dry summers where vineyard temperatures consistently reach the upper eighty degrees Farenheight. The Hawke’s Bay region averages 29 inches of rain annually but the Alpha Domus vineyards are located in a natural rain shadow, so the site receives considerably less than the regional average.

These are great examples of New Zealand wines, and we are offering several of them from Alpha Domus.
